With the development of social network sites, social network sites have become an indispensable necessity. By the end of 2017, there were more than 4 billion users worldwide. However, previous studies have pointed out that using social networking sites will arouse users’ negative emotions, coupled with the high-speed spread of social websites, will quickly accumulate negative emotions and spread among users, which will have a huge impact on users all over the world. Therefore, the research of negative emotions on SNSs is increasingly being studied attention. Envy is an emotional with aggressive and strong negative feelings, therefore, our study believes that it is necessary to focus on the mechanism of generating envy in order to effectively avoid the spread of envy in SNSs. However, most of the previous studies focused on other negative emotions or their effects on users, and seldom selected envy as the research topic, but understanding the mechanism of envy is the first step to effectively suppress envy.

Therefore, our research is dedicated to exploring the mechanism of envy on SNS. Based on the view that the sense of deserving produces jealousy emotions, this study summarizes the comparison benchmarks for users to judge whether the comparison object deserves, as the basis for predicting the generation of jealousy. According to the analysis results, the R2 of malicious envy is 67.4% , and R2 of benign is 18.6%. We hope that the research model of this research can contribute to the academic community and industry.
